The U17s travelled to Dungiven for their final League Cup plate game knowing that they would make the final by avoiding defeat. As it turned out the boys eased to a comprehensive victory by taking full control of the game early in the first half. The triangle had the benefit of a strong breeze and they made it work to their advantage by going in 5 nil up at half time. The second half was more competitive from a Dungiven perspective and they managed to find the Triangle net on three occasions. Nonetheless the Triangle boys themselves found the target four more times to make the final score 9-3. Leading the way on the scoring chart was Danny Logan who bagged his hat trick. The management team were particularly pleased to see that this talented footballer has finally managed to shake off a string of injuries and illnesses that has severely curtailed his season. Conor Reid kept up his fine recent scoring record with a brace and Adam Deeney also grabbed a couple. Ronan Quinn and Conall McMahon rounded off the scoring with one apiece. Nathan Milligan’s fine effort was inexplicably disallowed near the end. Overall the quality of football left a bit to be desired but that can be put down to very poor weather conditions as the boys had to contend with strong winds and frequent hail showers. The team await the results of the other matches in the section to see who they will play in the plate final.
