Triangle v Moyola

Triangle battled hard against a well drilled Moyola team. After an even start the Moyola team took
the lead on the 15th minute.  The big pitch suited the older Moyola boys but Triangle continued to
battle with James Richardson and Katelyn McKane posing threats to the Moyola defence.  The Triangle
team started lively in the second half with he wind behind them. Corey McMullan and Nicholas Kerr
ran tirelessly in midfield and when Moyola scored again Triangle continued with an open and
attractive style of football. The Triangle goal came when Harry Magee, playing on the left, set off
on a run down the left.  He passed to James Richardson who rounded a defender on the and passed
into the box where Katelyn McKane fired in a low shot into the net. ive minutes later the Moyola
team where awarded a dubious penalty. Reece Gordon the Triangle keeper who was man of the match
saved this penalty however the Moyola team finished the stronger team and got their third goal 5
minutes from time.

Triangle v Bertie Peacocks

Triangle took on Bertie Peacocks FC in the first of back-to-back matches over the next two weeks. Berties started very strongly and scored their first goal after 10 minutes. Triangle nearly equalised soon after with a great corner was delivered by James Richardson and Markus Condren failed to connect and the ball was cleared. Berties scored two goals in the space of the next ten minutes and added a forth before half time. Triangle improved in the second half with good work from Conor O'Hare and Andrew Wisener at the centre of the back four. However Berties got their fifth goal on the fortieth minute after the Triangle defence failed to clear the ball. Triangle kept battling with Nicholas Kerr and Ronan Gaile combining well on the left hand side. Katelyn McKane made a difference when she replaced Scott Nesbitt early in the second half but Triangle could not break through the strong Berties defence. Corey McMullan and Markus Condren tried valiantly to play the ball through to James Richardson but the Berties central defenders stood firm. Berties scored their sixth goal in the fiftieth minute when the Triangle defence again didn't manage to clear the ball. Triangle were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Katelyn McKane was pushed over in the box and one free kick in a good position towards the end of the game came to nothing with one of the Triangle forwards straying offside as the kick was being taken but overall the best team won on the day. The Triangle players had an off day and will be eager to put on a better display next week in the return fixture. Final score Triangle 0 - Bertie Peacocks 6.

Triangle v Glebeside

Triangle's 1996 squad took on a strong and skilful Glebeside in the latest round of games in the under 13 Coleraine and District League on Saturday morning at Rugby Avenue. After a slow start James Richardson ran through the Glebeside defence following a through ball from Markus Condren to make it 1-0 to Triangle after 10 minutes. James got his second goal a few minutes later after another strong run. Nicolas Kerr bagged the third goal on 20 minutes following a cross from Jamie McCann. Corey McMullan beat the Glebeside left back in the 25th minute and powered into the box where he was pulled down - penalty to Triangle! James Richardson stepped up to score his hat-trick and leave Triangle 4-0 up at half time.

Triangle stepped up a gear in the second half with Markus Condren getting the fifth goal with a shot from 25 yard out in the 35th minute. James Richardson got his fourth five minutes later following a great ball through from Markus Condren.  Glebeside came back into the game with two quick goals in the next five minute period but Triangle finished the game with another two goals, a great finish from close range from Conor O'Hare and a powerful shot from Scott Nesbitt. The team played very well on the day with Owen Dooley making some great saves showing bravery as he went down at the feet of the oncoming attackers on a few occasions. The back four of Matthew Douglas, Ronan Gaile, David Cochrane and Conor O'Hare were magnificent with Dylan Wall coming on at right-back in the second half for a solid performance. Markus Condren and Corey McMullan bossed the central midfield area with Nicholas Kerr and Jamie McCann working tirelessly on the wings. Conor Grundon replaced Jamie McCann early in the second half and worked hard to add width on the right-hand side. James Richardson took his four goals very well as usual and was accompanied by a hard-working Katelyn McKane in the first half and the quick and skilful Scott Nesbitt in the second. A great performance by Conor O'Hare at the centre of defence capped by his first goal of the season secured him the man-of-the match award. Final score Triangle 8 - 2 Glebeside.

Triangle v Tobermore

Under 12’s beat Tobermore Academy

Triangle travelled up to Tobermore with the same team as the week before. Both teams set out to play at a fast tempo and Triangle had a number of early chances when James Richardson was put through first by Nicolas Kerr and then by Corey McMullan but was unlucky to score both times. Tobermore went 1-0 up after 20 minutes somewhat against the run of play when the ball was played through from the midfield and the number 9 ran through and was lucky to beat Triangle's keeper Owen Dooley to the ball to score. Triangle battled hard after this and Katelyn McKane scored a great goal lobbing the keeper from 18 yards to make it 1-1 at the break. Both teams fought hard to score in the second half with Tobermore breaking through on a number of occasions but great defending from the Triangle back four and a number of good saves from Owen Dooley kept the score at 1-1. Triangle had a number of chances with Scott Nesbitt, Conor Grundon and James Richardson going close.

Triangle's winner came after 50 minutes when Markus Condren battled for the ball on the left hand side and put a good cross into the box where Katelyn McKane pounced to finish with aplomb netting her second of the day. Triangle could have made it 3-1 five minutes later when Markus Condren struck a volley from the edge of the Tobermore box but the centre half made a great clearance. Triangle had to battle through to the final whistle but kept it tight until the end and earned a thoroughly deserved first away victory of the season. (Wo)man of the match was Katelyn McKane who worked hard throughout the game and whose goals won the game for her team. Triangle v Moyola

Triangle v Eastend

Triangle started the game well with an early goal from James Richardson after five minutes. Jamie McCann struck a great shot from the edge of the box after 15 minutes , the ball flying in off the crossbar. Eastend got back into the game after this and scored after 25 minutes, the shot slipping in after a melee in the box. Triangle goalkeeper Owen Dooley was very unlucky not to save the shot having made a number of excellent saves earlier. Katelyn McKane got Triangle’s third five minutes before the break. There was some great build-up play in midfield from Scott Nesbitt and Corey McMullan with Nicky Kerr putting Katelyn through and she made no mistake from ten yards out. 3-1 to Triangle at half time.

Triangle started the second half strongly and James Richardson got his second goal and Triangle’s fourth on the 35 minute mark when he ran through the Eastend defence to slot home. James got his hat-trick after forty minutes after a great through ball from Markus Condren leaving James to run through and finish emphatically. Eastend got a second goal on fifty minutes after a goalmouth scramble and the centre forward scored from close range. Triangle were cruising at this stage however and missed two or three opportunities to score. Nicholas Kerr, Markus Condren and Katelyn McKane came close but the sixth goal was grabbed by James Richardson who scored from a penalty in the fiftieth-fifth minute. The Triangle defence comprising Owen Dooley in goal, Andrew Wisener, Conor O’Hare, David Cochrane and Ronan Gaile played very well and were unlucky to concede two goals. Conor Grundon and Matthew Smyth replaced the hardworking duo of Nicholas Kerr and Jamie McCann in the second half and showed that they will soon be pushing for a regular place in the team.

It was a fine display from Triangle with great performances from Owen Dooley, Corey McMullan, Andrew Wisener, and Katelyn McKane but the man of the match award must go to James Richardson who bagged four goals on the day.

Triangle v Magherafelt

Triangle started slowly and Magherafelt got the first goal after five minutes. The equalisers followed soon afterwards with a nice finish from Scott Nesbitt. Katelyn McKane grabbed the second soon afterwards following a great run through on goal. Scott scored his second goal after 15 minutes and made it a hat-trick on twenty minutes. Markus Condren got the fifth five minutes before half time after one of the Magherafelt defenders only managed to clear a corner to the edge of the penalty box. Markus struck the ball on the half volley giving the keeper no chance. Magherafelt pulled two goals back early in the second half but Triangle finished strongly with a great goal from Nicolas Kerr who cut inside the right back following a run down the left wing to slot home. Matthew Bertenshaw scored Triangle's seventh goal with a few minutes to go tapping the ball home after some great build-up play from Conor Grundon. Man of the match was Scott Nesbitt having bagged three goals. Special mention should go to Owen Dooley in goal and the back four of Andrew Wisener, David Cochrane, Conor O'Hare and Ronan Gaile. Corey McMullan ran his heart out for the team in midfield and Jamie McCann made a number of probing runs on the right side of midfield. Stefan Boyd added a bit of skill when he came on in the second half. After a shaky start to the season the team played well and confidence is growing. It was a thoroughly good team effort.
