Under 17’s continue cup winning run

Triangle FC U17’s latest League Cup game was against Tobermore at Coleraine. Connor Reid was first on the score sheet quickly followed by Jason McGaughey with a shot from twenty five yards which was low and beat the keeper. Triangle’s third came from a cross netted by a header courtesy of Connor Reid. Marcin Pierczhalski for the fourth slotted home from the right wing and he also clinched his second by way of a header. Connor Reid then made his hat-trick before the break with a shot from the eighteen yard line. 

After the second half Tobermore had more of a share of the game and clawed a goal back, however Marcin made his hat-trick before the final whistle. Triangle dominated most of the game even hitting the woodwork three times and netted the ball from a free kick. This was cleared by a Tobermore defender well behind the line. Missed by the referee the final score stood at Triangle FC 7 Tobermore 1. The good run of 8 wins in their last nine matches keeps the U17 in contention in their section of the league cup and they are hopeful of a good run in the knockout cup.

The Under 17s managed their third consecutive victory in a sporting and exciting away match. It was a hard worked result as they had to come from behind twice against a spirited Tobermore team. The Tobermore boys started at a flying pace and only some good work from Gavin McWilliams, the stand-in keeper, kept the score down to a single goal by mid way through the half. Then the Triangle boys began to show some of the spirit that they have been displaying in recent games. Nathan Milligan played a long through pass to an unmarked Conor Reid and he fired home the equaliser. Triangle began to dominate but early in the second half an excellent breakaway by a Tobermore winger restored their lead. Triangle’s in form striker Marcin Pierczhalski produced a stunning volley to equalise again and Triangle pressed on for a victory as time was running out. Danny Logan, Reid and Niall Mullen all had half chances and Kingsley Dunbar produced a long range effort. With a couple of minutes left some good work on the left by Logan and Mark Mearns released Pierczhalski who grabbed his second and secured the Triangle win. The Triangle boy’s fitness told as the game progressed on a heavy pitch that did not help their passing game and it was pleasing to see the strength of the squad with some very pleasing performances from both the starting 11 and from the boys who came off the bench.

Glebeside travelled to Coleraine for their last league meeting with Triangle hoping to do better the draw they had at 

their last clash. The Coleraine side was 1-0 ahead at half time and after the break added another three. The final 

score however was 4-2 to Triangle with goals from Marcin Paschiwizki, Geoffrey Gardiner, Conor Reid and Conal 

McMahon.
